55Seventy, the luxury wine storage facility that originated in Dallas, is coming soon to Houston's Upper Kirby District. Though the club will not be open until later this year, Houstonians are already joining 55Seventy and their social events have begun. Members tasted wine and enjoyed light bites from some of Houston's top chefs at the BeDesign space on Alabama last night. The event had a strong turnout suggesting there is high interest in what this new club is offering compared with the other luxury wine storage memberships in town. 55Seventy will be offering elevated dining and culinary experiences with a curated wine and spirit selection. Members can drink their own wines on site or buy wine from the club sommelier, without the restaurant markup, to enjoy in the Champagne Lounge, the tasting bar, or in the outdoor garden room. Last year, I had the opportunity to travel to Italy to taste the wines of Oltrepò Pavese. I discovered that these sparkling wines are based on Pinot Noir, they are made in the traditional method, like Champagne, and most importantly, they are an Italian hidden gem that bubble lovers across the world need to put on their radar.
