Some Recent Spanish Wines

  Freixenet Cordon Negro Brut Cava NV approximately $12 (media sample) Made from 35% Macabeo, 25% Xarel-lo and 40% Parellada Clear and bubbly. Clean, light aromas and flavors of pear and lemon. Light body with high acidity and medium alcohol with a medium length finish. Some guests drank it alone and some mixed it with juice for brunch cocktails, it worked equally well both ways. Recommended. Elyssia Gran Cuvee Brut Cava NV approximately $18 (media sample) Made from 40% Chardonnay, 30% Macabeo, 20% Parellada and 10% Pinot Noir Clear and bubbly. Clean, light aromas and flavors of honeydew, orange and almond. Medium body and alcohol with medium high acidity and a medium length finish. Another Sunday brunch at home, we really enjoyed it. Highly Recommended. 2010 Palacio de Bornos Rueda Verdejo  approxiamtely $12 at HEBClear, pale straw color. Clean, medium intense aromas and flavors of peach and pear. Light body with high acidity and medium alcohol with a medium length finish. I
